Who we are

Static Airwaves is a UK-based production company specialising in camera operating, video, and podcast/audio production.

We collaborate with filmmakers, studios, agencies, and brands to deliver reliable, high-quality work in professional environments. Our work spans branded content, corporate communications, and high-end film or gaming projects, supporting productions from early planning through to delivery.

Established in 2012, the business has grown from a single laptop in a spare room to working on projects at some of the world’s best-known film and music studios.

Based within easy reach of Oxford, Bristol, and West London, we work throughout the UK.

Static Airwaves Ltd began as a company in 2012. Though our family history with cameras stretches further back in time!

Here are some of our highlights from the past:

heritage

A vintage newspaper cover from the Radio Times, celebrating the 21st anniversary of BBC Television, featuring the years 1936 and 1957, with an image of a man operating a large camera.

Matt’s Great Uncle Ray Hider on the cover of the Radio Times Midland Edition for the 21st Anniversary of the BBC. Uncle Ray worked on shows like Dr Who and Blackadder II. (see the resemblance in the eyes!)

A promotional poster for the film "One Evening in June" featuring two women, Cella Imrie and Elle Turner, against a green and brown textured background. The poster includes text indicating it was an official selection at the 2018 Isle of Man Film Festival.

A highlight of the past was a very early short film project working with Celia Imrie.

The early years required some juggling with a baby.

A man with glasses and a beard sitting at a cluttered desk with a baby on his lap, working on a computer editing video. The desk has various items including magazines, a keyboard, a mouse, a lava lamp, a lamp, and a baseball. The background features floral wallpaper and colorful lighting.
A young child sitting in a high chair, smiling and flexing their arms, being filmed by an adult in a casual home setting.
Two individuals wearing medical masks and high-visibility vests, one woman with glasses and short brown hair taking a selfie, and another man in the background operating a professional video camera with a monitor and headphones, in an industrial or warehouse setting.
A man wearing a black cap, glasses, a face mask, a blue shirt, and a neon yellow safety vest operates a professional video camera in an industrial warehouse.

The covid years proved interesting…

A stressful time for everyone, we had all our work cancelled for the year within a week and the main camera had been damaged

We adapted into live streaming. Won new work and pushed forward!

Fulmar’s Folly was our first adventure into podcasting. At it’s height Fulmar was charting on Spotify

Humanoid robot with a human-like face wearing a red vest, standing in front of a wooden wall, engaging with a person.

And we were there filming the beginning of the AI revolution

Photograph of a camera filming a promotional poster for an Oxford executive diploma in Artificial Intelligence for Business, featuring a group of smiling people clapping.
Child using a putty knife to apply joint compound on drywall in a construction setting.

We built a new office with a little help

Image promoting the game 'Hell Divers' showing a person in armor holding a large gun, with fighter jets flying in the sky, and an on-screen caption reading 'Super Earth National Anthem.'
Exterior of a Domino's Supply Chain Centre with a sign displaying the Domino's logo and name.

And we worked on some amazing projects

with the biggest on still on going….
